Privacy Policy — Gradus Weight
Last updated: 3 September 2026
The short version
Gradus Weight does not collect anything. Your weigh-ins never leave your phone, because the app has no way to send them anywhere.
What the app stores
Everything you enter — your weigh-ins, their dates and times, any notes you add, your goal weight, your height, and your settings — is written to a database file in the app's private storage on your device. Android prevents other apps from reading it.
There is no account, no sign-up and no user identifier of any kind.
What the app sends
Nothing. The released version of Gradus Weight is built without the
Android INTERNET permission, which means the operating
system will not let it open a network connection even if it tried to. There is
no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no cloud sync.
Permissions
One permission is ever shown to you:
- Notifications — only if you switch on the daily reminder in Settings. It is requested at that moment, not at first launch, and declining it simply leaves the reminder off.
The reminder also brings a handful of permissions Android grants at install time and never asks you about, because the notification library needs them: running a short scheduled task, re-registering the reminder after a reboot, vibrating, and briefly keeping the device awake to show the notification. None of them can read your data or send anything.
There is deliberately no INTERNET permission and no exact-alarm
permission. You can check for yourself under Settings → Apps → Gradus
Weight → Permissions.
When data leaves your phone
Only when you deliberately send it:
- Export to CSV. Settings → Your data → Export to CSV hands the file to Android's share sheet. Where it goes next — email, a cloud drive, another app — is your choice, and from that point it is governed by whatever service you picked, not by us.
Home screen widgets
If you add a Gradus Weight widget, the app writes the few values the widget shows — your current weight, this week's change, your goal — into a preferences file so the widget can draw them. This file is also in the app's private storage. It stays on your device.
Deleting your data
Settings → Your data → Delete all records permanently erases every reading. Uninstalling the app removes the database along with it. Neither can be undone, and neither needs our involvement, because we never had a copy.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If a future version adds anything that transmits data — cloud backup, for instance — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
